Superb style Change, Semi Abstract Consequentialism
This painting is a transition piece, between styles or series if you wish. The title is classis “Mindfulness Creating Itself Through Random Images, Part 16”. This is one of those pieces stretched over that giant backdrop with the loveseat in front of it from my old studio. The one where I have conversations with my ex-wife. There were several random brush strokes applied from a wet brush I used on a previous painting, probably gray in color.
The introduction of the smokey effect is somewhat new for my content and the obelisks start to change shape. It was a matter of staying busy and finishing this piece. This painting came out very naturally and was completed in a few weeks. I put out about 60 paintings that year. The title is simple; The word “Mindfulness” encompasses all of my being, as I am existing in that moment, and being completely aware of it while painting. The words “Creating Itself Through Random Images” is the literal and tactile result of the mindfulness I just mentioned. My existence, and being aware of it, completely (mindfulness) is creating itself on canvas. Each line and brush stroke are merely consequences, one after another.
My only intent here is to create something that is beautiful and intriguing to me. Nothing was planned, sketched out or pre-determined. Simply my existence keeping busy and being productive by putting itself on canvas. The “Part 16” is just to throw people off a little. It alludes to the fact that there are many more like this with the same birthright. And there are, they are just titled differently.
The second option for a title is the original title I gave to the piece. “The Introduction of Death and Life to the New World” is a title derived from the knowledge that life existed before Adam, it’s obvious and factual. God introduced the concept of being born through a woman and having to pass through death from this world right around the time of the expulsion from paradise, our original created home. It was a totally new and foreign concept, and we are its pioneers. This is a great painting of that notion, conceptualized. It’s a gorgeous piece, totally love it.
