Semi Abstract Color

So, where to even start with this one???  It was the second experiment in this style, and the first painting with the combination of two styles, that came together in 2016. The painting is composed of hundreds of little paintings in various sizes.  The center structures are there to create a 3D effect.

Dali was obsessed with creating objects that literally seem to come off from the canvas, like when you looked at them you believed they were three dimensional.  I, also, have been quasi-obsessed with this too.  So, when I read that little bit of information about Dali it really resonated with me and kept me on the trajectory that I have been on. When I read about other artists it gives me understanding and I am truly able to relate to another person.

Not many people understand me, so when I read about the inner workings of other artists its like being in group therapy. This has happened to me several times. Seeing other artists’ studio space and work environments helps too. When I go to museums I have to be told to step away from the paintings because I want to see every brushstroke, the staples, the stretchers, the flaws even.

It tells a story. Even my titles are a mirror, of sorts, to some of the surrealist titles of Dali. They are an homage to him. “Random thoughts in G Minor” is a completely made-up phrase that came to me at the time I was naming the piece. Even my titles, most of the time, are consequential and not intended.  I mean how do you title a piece that was never intended to exist?

So, as I form a random title, I place my faith in the consequences of how the viewer will interact with and interpret the painting. The titles are just as important as the paintings to me. It has always been a tell-tale sign if a person is interested in my art, or takes art seriously, when they ask what a painting is titled. That sparks my interest, now you have my attention, now I actually think you give a sh-t.

The “Southern Estate View” is just a random perspective I have invented when naming my paintings. The colors on this painting are insane, and the energy and movement will not stop without a frame. It’s rather big will command any room it rests in.
