"Viceroy, Viceroy; She Cried"

Semi Abstract Vice

It was my constant obsession in 2022 and most of 2023 to render the rawest feelings onto Canvas rather than on sketch paper.  If I can only recreate that exposed spirit, the unaided, and unintentional movement between body and spirit.  This painting is a true sketch and came out very free in early 2023.  I was experimenting in bright yellow and creating random shapes and consequential movement as per the usual. 

The two obvious structures within the painting are separated, which is totally foreign to most paintings within the same time frame.  Instead of both objects being joined they are separate, go back and look.  This was unintentional and resulted in a great composition.  The addition of mars red really set the entire piece off.  Effortless and free is how I would describe this.  It sat unfinished, as usual, for about 6 months and was finished in late summer of 2023. 

The title proclaims, and exclaims freedom, arrival, discovery, and passion towards the love and discovery of pure truth.  The blues are my own creation, a mixture of two types of oil paints and pigments, irreplicable.
