Semi Abstract Booth
I didn't name this painting. Oddly enough this painting arose out meeting a random person off a dating site. She's an amazing woman from a small town north of Atlanta. She came down, as a friend, to the studio and we did some art together.
This painting is a quasi-replication of the piece that I gave her, that I did that day. We both did paintings and she left hers and I gave her mine. I really like the results of the painting that I gave her, so I tried to replicate it. After I showed her the finished product a couple days later, she said she would call it "Kissing Booth or Movie Tickets" and I kind of just went with it and wrote it down on the canvas.
I felt that the words were random enough to be consequential. The title offers up a little bit of mystique and gives the viewer an option, as if there were any. Personally, I love everything about this painting. It hits with the raw feeling I am searching for. The colors are just perfect, the line work is orgasmic, and the subject matter are the things I dream of.
It's also not a massively large piece, which means I can hang it just about anywhere. This painting is also a great example of how my obelisks have morphed. It's almost as if they're opening up and showing what's inside, the internal structure even. I really like combining the representational with the abstract; and this piece really does that for me.
The brain can wrap itself around something, but what it is the mind has no idea what it's looking at. The brain accepts it though, because it came from the soul, has passion, and elements with which the brain can you use to imagine. I have included the sketch this painting is loosely based on.
