This is another series involving the concept of God, man and woman. The Giant obelisk in the center represents a man, and the multi-layered structure to the right represents the idea or concept of a woman. It's not the actualization of a woman but merely the thought.
The motive was to fill the canvas with everything I was feeling at the time about God, Man, and the potential of the right woman in my life. The obelisk was going to be the man and everything outside was going to be his relationship with God, influences, the world, worries, joys, etc. I had not chosen the colors or the content prior to laying down any brush strokes.
This was done in the summer of 2022 and marks a huge departure in style. The inside of the obelisk opens up more, the shape representing a woman appears for the first time, and the colors all change. It had been appearing in sketches throughout early 2022, but this is the first time appears in a painting. The colors are just gorgeous and work perfectly together with the shapes.
This is a great example of where consequences meet serendipity. For the first time the right side of the Obelisk opens up, the right side is considered the most guarded. I think this is a great representation of my faith becoming stronger. There are drawer like objects inside, all consequential, possibly pointing towards the many compartmentalized emotions, beliefs, experiences, etc. I have within me.
The structure that represents the woman is brand new to my work only appearing as early as 2021. It being broken up into pieces most likely points to the depth and multi-faceted creatures they can be, after all they are different and have two X chromosomes, unlike men. The female structure is not grounded completely being that it was only an idea and not in actuality and it is taller for a reason.
I feel as a man I should keep my loved one at an elevated state of reverence, that’s why in the painting it is generally higher than the man. If both parties have this attitude what could go wrong? So, if I was a woman I would have painted the man in a higher state, and myself (a hypothetical woman) in a lower state.
