Semi Abstract Force

Extra paint on the brush.  I would say 90 percent of the paintings I start, and finish, began with getting the extra paint off my brush.  When I am painting there is often excess paint on my brush and instead of wasting it and wiping it off on a rag I will take a blank canvas, or one in progress, and apply the paint to that.  This piece is a great example of the consequences of just that.  The funny thing about all of this is that if you go back and look at the sequential order of my paintings you will see a common pallet of colors.  It’s not because I am some genius or that I had an idea of just the right colors to use; it is all purely consequential in nature (and practice BTW).  So, this piece has some of the colors of the two paintings before it and some of the colors of the paintings after it.

This work took about 7 months to complete.  I didn’t much care for the original structure, so it morphed it into what you see now.  It is not the usual shaped obelisk that you normally see in my work either.  In 2022 the shape of obelisks in my paintings drastically changed.  They began to represent man and God, man being the Obelisk and God being everything around and surrounding the Obelisk.  If you ever see a box, or another Obelisk in my paintings those represent a woman.  Not a woman in presence but in a conceptualized reality that may or may not exist here.  In this work the woman is disguised and subsists without thought, that is why it is so beautiful.  It is like coexisting with someone equally on all levels of intensity within what is Love and Life and God.
